The default GUI is not so intuitive. Any basic tips?

OK, SMPlayer seems to have a different logic than Media Player Classic - Home Cinema and VLC Media Player. MPC - HP and VLC has what I call a classic logic to media players. I'm not saying it is the good one or the only good one. But I ask if the logic your default player uses is your invention or is it based on some other, previous design?
Question: if I quit the player and restart it, it resumes playback where I left off (unlike MPC - HP and VLC). It may be a nice feature, but I simple haven't found a simple button on the interface to press with a single click if I want to restart media from the beginning. Unless I move the pointer on the playback seek bar to the beginning. Which, I assume is not the most straightforward way to perform this task.
