unstable MPlayer2 release dates older than stable?

Why are the unstable Mplayer2 builds under http://sourceforge.net/projects/smplaye ... /mplayer2/ are all older than one at http://sourceforge.net/projects/smplaye ... /MPlayer2/ ? Usually, unstable / nightly builds are newer than stable ones.

Having trouble deciding which would be best to try w/ one of more recent portable SMPlayer builds.

MP2_64bit portable - here http://sourceforge.net/projects/smplaye ... 13/x86_64/ is also newer release date than those in the unstable builds (portable). Possibly because 2 different devs working on them?

But the newest is 6 months old, and may be the last builds ever since they haven't updated it to work with newer Libav since March. The last activity for mplayer2.org was in April.

OK, thanks. But why are some Mplayer2 builds listed on SF & some "newer builds" on code.google? Ones on code.google show they're uploaded by you, as well.

I'm sure there's a reason, but never saw a (prominent) mention where to get latest builds. Dates seemed odd - that's why I asked. Confuse - a - user?

What's your understanding / opinion of GL3 output driver (on GPUs that support it) vs. "best Windows" output driver(S) in mplayer. I guess in mplayer, those would be Direct3D; possibly DirectX. Don't think on newer machines w/ decent GPUs, GL (orig - included in mplayer) would equal GL3 for some codecs.

In my limited, somewhat subjective comparison of GL3 to Direct3D or others, seemed GL3 had better rendering on some codecs.
Qualifying that w/ screen captures was difficult, as found capture quality of players was not directly proportional to video output quality.

The links are mentioned on the download page. I don't/didn't see any difference in the video quality amongst the output drivers.

Since mplayer2 is inactive, any issues or missing newer codecs won't be fixed.
