SMPlayer rev. 5783 screensaver disable problem

Postby Sourcefan » Sat Oct 05, 2013 4:55 pm

Hello developers and all,

Since SMPlayer rev. r5779 there was a patch regarding the screensaver, link:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6778

After upgrading from smplayer-0.8.6.5760-win32.exe to smplayer-0.8.6.5783-win32.exe the srceensaver disabling didn't work anymore (for me).
After some searching I was able to get the screensaver disabling to work again. :)

SMPlayer rev. 5783 only has the “Switch screensaver off” choice. This didn't work at first.

While reverting back to SMPlayer rev. 5760 there was the choice between:
Switch screensaver off
Avoid screensaver

Each of them disables the screensaver fine, choosing both don't disable the screensaver anymore.
While upgrading smplayer-0.8.6.5760-win32.exe to smplayer-0.8.6.5783-win32.exe the The “Avoid screensaver” option was chosen the first time.
The next time I upgraded with “Switch screensaver off” and “Avoid screensaver” both unchecked.

Now the smplayer-0.8.6.5783 let me disable the screensaver with the “Switch screensaver off” option checked.

Suggestion: is it possible when upgrading to SMPlayer rev. R5779 or later to let the installer uncheck the “Avoid screensaver” option to avoid interference with the “Switch screensaver off” option?

SMPlayer-0.8.6.5783-win32
Windows XP-home SP3 (32-bit)

Hello developers and all,

My apologies for bothering you, but the above mentioned problems are not caused by SMPlayer.
The upgrade problems where (after all) caused by the “files and registry protection” from my antivirus software (Avira Free Antivirus). Without this “files and registry protection” the upgrade went fine.
I have not seen such a problem with my antivirus software before, but I'll keep it mind now.
