"remember time position" inconsistent

I have checked "remember time position" but when I reopen a partially viewed video it's not where it should be. Lately I watched a video 2/3 of the way through,closed it, then when I reopened it it went to 1/3 of the way through. Is there another setting? I'm using version 14.3.0. Thanks

There are some options that may affect seeking, you can try to switch them on/off:
Preferences -> Interface -> Seeking -> Absolute seeking / relative seeking.
(if you use mplayer2 you can enable precise seeking)
Preferences -> Advanced -> Use the lavf demuxer.
