smplayer don't show seeking/volume visuals with mplayer2

smplayer don't show seeking/volume visuals in fullscreen with mplayer2.

In fullscreen when i try to increase/decrease volume or jump forward/backward with keyboard shortcuts then it shows the current status in visual in white bars i.e. at what level volume is currently or how much video is played. With mplayer2 it is not showing that.
I am using Ubuntu 14.04. Do I need to pass any special parameters to mplayer to show those or is there any preference which is blocking those.

If i directly play mplayer2 then I am seeing those visuals but not in smplayer. These visuals were working fine with mplayer 1.

I can't reproduce it.

I've just installed ubuntu 14.04 in a virtual machine. The bars show in smplayer using mplayer2.
