Update problem

Postby Rômulo » Tue Jan 27, 2015 2:10 am

Hello. I'm using Xubuntu 14.04 64 bits and I had a problem to update Smplayer. I could not select to update the player even when the system told me that I had one update to install. So i decided to reinstall it again, but then I have this error:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

smplayer : Depends: mplayer or
mplayer-nogui but it is not installable or
mpv (>= 0.6.2)

Unable to correct problems, you have held (hold) broken packages.

Anyone knows how could I fix it? I only have this problem when I use Smplayer ppa, when I install from the Software Center it goes ok, but their version it's too old and I can't use it.

Thank you.

Isn't mplayer available in xubuntu? :o

What does this show?
apt-cache show mplayer

If mplayer isn't available, you can install mpv from this ppa:
https://launchpad.net/~mc3man/+archive/ubuntu/mpv-tests
rvm

Thank you, the apt-cache show mplayer showed "N: Could not select versions of mplayer package as it is purely virtual
N: No packages found" but it worked after I installed mplayer by the link you provided. Usually it's easy to install SMplayer in Xubuntu, I installed it many times and it only had this problem now. I don't know what caused it, but it's fixed. Thanks.
