How can I resize "letterbox" size video

I often get video designed for widescreen tv's or movies etc. I view with basically square displays. Even if it distorts a little, I prefer to fill the entire screen rather than watch small images. When I adjust aspect ratio it still includes the extra black framing the picture. How can I just make the picture fill the whole display? Thanks

Video -> Aspect ratio -> Disabled.
