It's just that I can't reproduce your problem in my computer. For me it only takes a second or less to load the next file in the playlist.
Do you know in what version this problem started to happen to you?

Do you still have the problem if you use with smplayer 14.9.* the mplayer version from 0.8.1?

well, installed smplayer-15.9.0-win32.exe, things are running better than ever
