Please send the smplayer log (menu View) after playing a video with subtitles.

I'm afraid I'm not able to reproduce the problem in my computer. The log doesn't show any error (just one warning, but it should work fine with it), your configuration seems also correct. So I'm afraid I really don't know what's causing the problem for you.
