[Solved] Video Only Plays in Top Left Corner of Player

Hey folks, new to this player, so I'm sure it's something I missed.

As the title states, my videos only play in the top left corner of the player. I can't seem to figure out how to get them to touch the window from the inside. Below is a screenshot of what I'm experiencing:



As you can see, the video actually plays over top of the players controls. In this screenshot the player is minimized, but I get the same issue in fullscreen as well. In fact, if I switch between minimized and fullscreen, I also see odd artifacting in the area of the player where the video isn't playing. I looked through the preferences, but nothing jumped out to me on how to resolve this issue.

Try a different video output in preferences -> general -> video.

Do you have the same problem if you change the "multimedia engine" in preferences -> general?

I never experienced this problem with the video in the top left corner on Windows.
Is there an error or warning in the mpv log? (menu View)

Maybe you can use the option "run mplayer/mpv in its own window" in preferences -> advanced -> mplayer/mpv. The video would be in a different window, but you should be able to move it and make it fullscreen.

I finally figured out the issue. At some point I had right-clicked on the SMPlayer icon, and turned on "High DPI scaling override" under the Compatibility section, because the text was so small on my projector. For whatever reason that shrunk the picture down and put it in the top left-hand corner of the screen. I only figured this out when I did it to VLC as well for the same reason. Figured I'd come back and let people know in the unlikely event someone else runs into the same situation.
