"crop on the fly" would be a great add for future version

Smplayer and Irfanview are my go to programs for videos and pictures. Irfanview does one thing with it's pictures that would be great in smplayer. I can draw a box and click inside it and see only whats in the box. In other words crop. I have many self made sports videos I'll watch only one time. Sometimes I'll have forgotten to turn off wide angle and there's all this space around the action I don't need. Yes, I can zoom in but it's limited because sometimes the action is at the bottom of the frame etc. I could go to the video editing program but that takes a long time and make the PC work hard for something I'll just watch once. If there's ever a way to allow on the fly cropping where I select my own size box and then just watch that it would be great. Thanks
