Subtitle bars overlapping

Hi, I've attached a picture of subtitle bars overlapping creating a dark line. I've done some things with the subtitle settings to try to fix it but nothing I do changes it. I have some opacity in the bars and would like to keep it that way. Any help to resolve this would be appreciated - I just find it distracting.
