Ideally DirectX Fast which uses overlays.
However if your card can handle it opengl can perform well. Yours seems like it could barring any bugs the card may have with opengl. Lack of hardware capability will result in poor performance and/or tearing. 3D acceleration needs to be well supported by your card for it to work well.
You want to shoot for DirectX w/overlays though. Unless this color issue appears frequently for you DirectX fast is preferred.
