Mplayer/mpv has finished unexpectedly. Exit code: 3

Linux Mint 18.1, SMP 18.10.0-1 xenial1, MPV 0.27.0-amended.
NOTE: The files really aren't exiting unexpectedly - they finish playing.
Every video or audio file played, whether downloaded or ripped from CDs or captured from turn table or reel-to-reel has this same error.
It's had it for as long as I remember in Linux, but I don't remember if it started the 1st day I installed SMP from the PPA,
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/rvm/smplayer/ubuntu xenial main.
The files finish playing & every file shows this error. It's a minor pain to click to clear the error box, before anything else can be done. MPV is selected as the engine (obviously) in Prefs/General/General.
I found a bug created May 2017 #816 Mplayer/mpv has finished unexpectedly. It states having a string entered in Advanced / SMPlayer/mpv > Options, was causing the error message (only part of string is shown in the bug): 'ytdl-raw-options=proxy="......"' That is similar to (the ONE) command I have in Advanced / SMP options. Any idea of the exact reason for the error, when it appears the option is entered correctly & the player is following the option?
ALSO: the same error shows playing local files, that shouldn't be using a network or proxy command. Though it also shows when SMP is using a proxy port.
I don't know the rest of bug #816 reporter's string, but deleting my command from Advanced Options seems to fix the error.
I checked a few times in Linux network output to see if SMPlayer / mpv were following the command to use a particular proxy port & it appeared they were.
A pure guess might be that there's no or an incorrect exit code when certain SMP/mpv options are entered, though the files finish playing normally.
