"turn monitor off" not working after using Smplayer

"turn monitor off" feature (in power settings) doesn't work anymore after using Smplayer.
after every time i use sp, i have to go to power settings, make a change and save it: then
monitor will switch off again (after computer is idle for n given minutes).

it looks like sp interferes with/disable that feature.

In preferences -> video there are two ways to disable the screensaver. If one doesn't work properly, try the other.

tried them both.
tried all possible combinations.

same results: smplayer disables "turn monitor off" and never re-enables it.

That's strange. At least the option "Avoid screensaver" should not change anything in the power settings.

Have you tried to disable both options? Maybe it's not smplayer the one that changes the power settings.

I had the same problem with my 0.6.8 version on my windows xp. I downgraded to 0.6.2 and then it was worked fine.

Could you copy the smplayer log?

Start to play a file, stop it and the copy the whole smplayer log (options -> view logs).
