Subtitle functions unusable on x64 version

I am using SMPlayer on a 5 y.o. machine. On the latest update 19.5 x64 I lost most functionality on subtitles, delay size etc, whatever options I may select on preferences. Note that It took me some time to realize as on most videos I don't use them, so this might have been happening form a previous version.

Uninstalled reinstalled 32bit version. Everything works
Uninstalled reinstalled 64bit version. Same issues reappear.

Specifics:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
SMPlayer 19.5 64bit

Since this might be a GUI issue I am using the Skinnable GUI option.

It works for me fine. I guess there must be something in your configuration.

So when subtitles are displayed you can change their size either through the drop down menu or via a shortcut key?
