Is possible to see subtitles in a recorded tv program

I'm using Wintv and recording live TV. I see the subtitles in the Wintv program but haven't figured out how to see them in the recorded version using smplayer. Is this possible? Thanks

By the way, I was looking under "OSD. Subititles only" and selecting that. I hadn't noticed a dedicated subtitles section and kept trying the different listings . The one that finally worked was titled something like "hearing impaired".
