I tried to use SMPlayer as an alternative to ProgTV because of easier control and better interface. But besides the problem described here , there is a couple of a serious problems that doesn't allow to watch IPTV with SMPlayer.
First, some HD channels are jerky: video and audio got interrupted by 1s every 5-6s. Channel parameters are AVC 8Mbit, AAC 224Kbit. ProgTV on the same computer shows this channel without any lags.
Second, TV deinterlacing set in Settings does not apply to TV. To turn on deinterlacing, I have to go to menu, "Video" and set deinterlacing there. ProgTV does this automatically.

You can try to increase the cache in preferences -> performance. If that doesn't fix it, please send the mpv log (menu View).

32M cache didn't help. Here is the log attached.
