smplayer stays in taskbar on XP after I close program

I'm using my XP laptop to archive some tapes. When I close smplayer it stays below in the taskbar. Then if I try to change the name of the video I just played or even one in the same folder I get the message "cannot rename file.It is being used etc.". It doesn't do this on my win10 PC. Is there a setting in smplayer that avoids this? Thanks

Turn off the option "show icon in system tray" in the Options menu.
