SMPlayer not remembering last position

Hello,
I just installed SMplayer (19.10.0 64bit) on Windows 7, and the player does not remember "last time" - when I open the same file again it starts from the beginning.
I have "remember settings" and "remember position" enabled
I have playlist "play files from start" disabled
What could be the problem?

Be sure that the option "pressing the stop button once resets the time position" in preferences -> interface is not checked.

smplayer_files.ini is only used if the option "store settings" (in preferences -> general) is set to "one ini file". Otherwise the folder "file_settings" is used. Be sure all files under ~/.config/smplayer/ are writable.

Try this: go to preferences -> advanced -> logs and enable the option "save smplayer log to a file". Play a video, close smplayer, and then send here the file ~/.config/smplayer/smplayer_log.txt

Thanks again for caring. I changed the settings according to what you said, restarted SMPlayer, played a video file for a few seconds, stopped and quit SMPlayer.

According to the log everything seems normal. Do you still have the problem if you change the "store settings" option to "multiple ini files"?

Yes, unfortunately I do. I already tried that and just tried it one more time just to be sure.
And just to be sure we're talking about the same thing, I'll describe the problem I'm experiencing: I watch video A and interrupt at, let's say 15 minutes into the video, by double clicking on video B in my playlist. Later on, I'd like to continue with video A at exactly where I stopped earlier, which is 15 minutes into the video. I then play video A again by double clicking video A in the playlist. Some years ago, everything worked fine and the video continued from where I stopped earlier (15 minutes into the video). Now my problem is that it starts at the beginning again.
