Opening directory with 500 mp3s takes almost two minutes!

Whereas VLC gets the job done in less than a second!
Something is definitely wrong here, any suggestions?
Machine is 1.73GHz Pentium M, 2GB RAM. Filesystem is ext4.

Be sure the option "automatically get info about files" in the playlist's preferences is disabled. That option is very slow.

It is still unacceptably slow, I do not notice much improvement.
I even restarted SMPlayer after unchecking that playlist option:

You didn't uncheck the option I told you:

That's in the preferences window inside the playlist.

Oh.
I didn't expect to find that option in there, I thought Options > Playlist only affects the current playlist. I wonder how many people think like me? This could be an usability issue, why should global options be scattered around different locations like that? What's the benefit?

You're right. That's because the current code of the playlist is a mess...

Yes. It did work, it is as fast as VLC now then opening huge directories.
