While playing movies on my notebook with windows 7, the power saving settings continue working. I think it was fine before without touching anything and became like this after I reinstalled windows.

There are several option in preferences -> video to try to disable the screensaver (and the other power saving settings). Try them.

There's only screensaver options: avoid screensaver and switch screensaver off, which both make no difference. My screensaver off anyway.

Seems like I solved the problem by installing and uninstalling vlc media player. Perhaps that why I didn't have this problem before format. I tried vlc before smplayer before.

Actually after reboot its dimming again so I don't know...
