SMPlayer has stopped playing videos

My main problem is solved. I changed video driver, from xf86-video-radeonhd to xf86-video-ati, and activated KMS (kernel mode switching), and SMPlayer behaves normally again.

Or almost so - it stops and/or freezes when I try fast forward. Any tips about a solution to this is much appreciated.

Yes, within smplayer. If you don't have pulse, try oss.
