I am having this problem on an I860 with an NVIDIA GTX470 card - no other players have any problems -
I am using the 3585 version with r32198 mplayer. I tired 64bit mplayer and it did not work. I have it set to Intel MT.
I hope there is a fix for this.
Thanks
Barry

I just tried all the videos I had archived that are .mp4 & H264 from various different groups and they all worked with r3585 & r32198 Intel MT. What videos in particular aren't working?

I'm having the exact same problem with the same video card. Also, it can cause my entire system to grind to a halt, no small feat for a core I7 system, until I can kill smplayer.
Playing the same files directly through mplayer doesn't have this problem.

Anyway, what version you using? I compiled r3585 with different Qt versions and don't exactly mark what is using what. Unlikely but maybe the Qt version is the problem.
Try this one:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/smplaye ... e/downloadSMPlayer r3590 compiled with QT 4.7.0 and MPlayer r32198.
I tried all my .mp4 files that use the 'ffh264' codec and had no issues. Sherpya has a newer MPlayer build available but I deemed it unfit just because of an aspect ratio problem with one of the videos I tested;
http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.phpI kept all the anime/Japanese dramas I downloaded for some time and other videos so I have a bit of a selection to test with.

I just updated to 3590 and same deal - hangs the player and after that happens I cannot get SMPlayer to start - just hangs on start up.
I don't get their whole setup - why can't we use EVR and Graphic assited H264?? I really like this player, but it needs to keep up with the times.
It still has a lousy playlist system - EXCEPT how it keeps individual settings per file - no one comes close to that feature. Though I would like to be able to set the demuxer for .dv files instead of changing every single one of them.
Is there any debug I can run to see why it is hanging during starttup?

It has gpu acceleration in Linux versions but not Windows. I don't know how likely they are to implement it in Windows, they can't even get audio cds to work in Windows versions.

What does this version of Mplayer do? Do I need to set my video output to a specific choice for this to work? How come no EVR choice? It's all very confusing.

Extract it somewhere it doesn't matter where then go into the SMPlayer preferences and point it to the new mplayer.exe under General - MPlayer.exe executable.
Or give me a specific .mp4/h264 file I can test and help RVM narrow down the problem. As I said I have hundreds of files fitting .mp4 & H264 (ffh264) and have no issues. I can play up to 40Mbit (which is Blu-ray's max) or more files with a multithreaded in MPlayer and my processor is from 2006.
