Strange fullscreen behaviour (linux)

Hi all!
When using smplayer, following fullscreen behaviour is observed:
1) start smplayer normally - it shall open some video in a window
2) toggle fullscreen using 'f' key (or menu, doesn't matter) -> video is now fullscreen
3) toggle fullscreen off -> oops, it is still fullscreen, but controls on top and bottom appear.
No WM decorations are visible.
4) toggle fullscreen on again -> It goes fullscreen again
5) toggle fullscreen off -> now fullscreen is off and smplayer is showing window of the same size as it started
with WM decorations.
Is this expected behaviour? If not, what can be the reason? I expect that fullscreen toggle
will switch between 2 modes: original and fullscreen, as console mplayer does.
If this is expected, is it possible to turn it off ?
I've tried all video outputs available and there is no difference, same if changing options->interface->resize settings...
I'm using gentoo linux, smplayer:
Version: 0.6.9 (SVN r3447)
Using Qt 4.7.4 (compiled with Qt 4.7.4)
Using MPlayer SVN r33094
NVidia videocard: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G94 [GeForce 9600 GT] (rev a1)
(same effect on my notebook with intel hardware, though).
