No video using DirectX / Direct3D output

Hello,

I tried playing a .mp4 file (that I assumed it is eitehr 1080p / 720p) on my laptop that runs with Window Vista, a ATI graphic card (non-gaming), dual core CPU with 3GB DDR2 ram. I have read a couple posts including the FAQ section but I have problem to play my video smoothly (I installed K-Lite codec pack just now). I tried a couple changes but this is what I have experienced:

- I can only watch my video using gl, gl (fast), and gl (fast - ATI). Other output drivers = no video, just audio.
- gl (fast) and gl (fast - ATI) are smoother than gl, but the video skips or freezes for a couple seconds every 3-5 seconds periodically.
- At this moment under my "Preference - General - Video" tab, I have:

Unchecked:
- Enable postprocessing by default (Quality = 6)
- Use software video equalizer
- Direct rendering
- Allow hard frame drop ["Preference - Performance"]
- Use CoreAVC if no other codec specified ["Preference - Performance"]

Checked:
- Double buffering
- Draw video using slices
- Avoid screensaver [under Screensaver]
- Allow frame drop ["Preference - Performance"]

And I have H.264 Loop filter set as "Skip (Always)" ["Preference - Performance"].

While this is probably irrelevant, I have my "Deinterlace by default for TV as Yadif (normal)".

Unless this is some sort of a hardware issue, I hope someone can help me. Thank you.

Select DirectX or Direct3D, play the video and attach the log from Options -> View logs -> MPlayer & SMPlayer (click the disk icon to save).

Possible reasons, problems, workarounds:
- Most common: broken/buggy _audio_ driver
- Try -ao sdl or use the OSS emulation of ALSA.
- Experiment with different values for -autosync, 30 is a good start.
- Slow video output
- Try a different -vo driver (-vo help for a list) or try -framedrop!
- Slow CPU
- Don't try to play a big DVD/DivX on a slow CPU! Try some of the lavdopts,
e.g. -vfm ffmpeg -lavdopts lowres=1:fast:skiploopfilter=all.
- Broken file
- Try various combinations of -nobps -ni -forceidx -mc 0.
- Slow media (NFS/SMB mounts, DVD, VCD etc)
- Try -cache 8192.
- Are you using -cache to play a non-interleaved AVI file?
- Try -nocache.

I didn't see anything weird but your SMPlayer/MPlayer is rather old. You can try a newer version: http://sourceforge.net/projects/smplaye ... e/download

I installed the newest version of SM Player and attempted to install the latest video driver for Radeon 3100, but still, no video using DirectX.
