Screen size & position not remembered v0.8.0

Using SMP 0.8.0 in Vista x64. 1st, I'm NOT referring at all to Full Screen Mode. Full Screen doesn't show any tool / control bars.
"Maximized" screen or mode (in any app) does show tool / control bars.
After maximizing the UI (NOT full screen), by clicking middle of the 3 screen size control buttons at top, R - to "maximize" the UI, the lower control bar is then fully visible (using Default GUI & the Time / Total Time is displayed right below the volume slider function).

I close SMP w/ the screen maximized & all of control bar fully visible, but each time it reopens, the screen is not in "maximized" mode & part of the control bar (to almost all of it, depending on video) is hidden below Vista's task bar / app status bar. SMP doesn't remember that it was in "Maximized" mode when closed. (Again, not talking about Full Screen). EVEN IF it didn't remember to start maximized, no part of the control bar (on any app) should be hidden, unless positioned that way when last closed.

After reopening same (or different) video, if I hover the middle "screen size control" button, tool tip says "maximize", meaning it's NOT already maximized (as it was when SMP closed). Even though SMP UI isn't "maximized," it IS filling almost entire screen - it's just that the UI is "shifted" downward a bit, & hiding part or all of the control bar. Click the "maximize" button & the UI is enlarged * a tiny bit * but MOSTLY it shifts the UI upward maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch, so now the whole control bar is visible.

In prefs / interface>Interface tab, for Main Window, I have "remember position & size" checked. Maybe I misunderstand this - but it doesn't open a maximized screen for specific videos - or ANY time.
"Auto resize" is set on default "only when needed." Tried the other 2 settings -no change.
BTW, I'm using the portable SMP & typically open vids by explorer context, "Send To" >SMPlayer.

More of the control bar is hidden using default GUI. The "mini" & "MPC" GUIs aren't as bad, but they don't show the upper, main toolbar w/ icons, so less functionality / ease of use.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Perhaps someone could look into this. Clarifying. I'm using the Windows versions (in Vista x64). In SMP 0.8.0 / 0.8.0 r(x) - (w/ included MPlayer OR substituting MPlayer2), for most any format / resolution vid I've tried, if fully MAXIMIZE that screen (not Full Screen), then close SMP & reopen the same or diff vid, it usually does 1 of 3 things:

1) Opens SMP in "nearly maximized" mode. In this instance, most of SMP's "time / total time" counter is hidden below Windows taskbar. If don't care about seeing it, no big deal. But, many do - so must ALWAYS click maximize window button. If need to use timer to find frame (say, for screen shot) - on a LOT of vids, it's a lot of extra, unnecessary clicking to maximize window.

2) Same scenario as above. On many vids, (though SMP was LAST closed in "maximized" size), it opens w/ most of control bar hidden below Windows task bar. Tops of control bar icons barely visible. If want control bar, must ALWAYS click maximize button. If watch 2 vids / mo, no biggie. If watch lots & need control bar / time_total time counter, it's a lot of extra clicking.

3) Worst of 3: Same scenario, except after closing SMP while screen was maximized, & opening some (many) - even high res 1920x1080 vids, SMP reopens mimimized (maybe 1/3 of monitor?).
In THIS case, if click window maximize button once, it enlarges SMP to where it looks like either # 1 or 2, above. Must click maximize a 2nd time, to maximize window so entire control bar / timer are visible. Even more extra clicking than 1 or 2.

All 3 happen w/ Interface option: "remember position & size," checked;
The selection in Interface / Main Window / Auto resize - drop box, does not seem to change above behaviors.

This happens in every SMPlayer version I've tried - portable or installer; stable / unstable builds. With MPlayer or Mplayer2.
These 3 scenarios are NOT found in many other players, such as VLC.
There are kybd shortcuts / mouse functions for "Full Screen," but not "Maximize Screen," AFAIK.

Thanks.
