Help request - video colour/brightness adjustments

Postby peterlonz » Wed Jan 16, 2013 3:20 am

I notice between different media players some differences in the rendering of colour, hue, saturation & brightness (etc).
It appears that the SMPlayer can do this also by selecting "video" - "video equaliser" where the usual slide adjustments are presented.
I cannot get these to work so I have no adjustment capability within these video display parameters.
That means that if the particular video is "well away from normal", I must opt to open another player, & watch there making adjustments as appropriate.
My request is: can anyone help with this, it seems odd that functionality appears to be inbuilt but fails to work.
Thanks

With some cards or video drivers the hardware video equalizer may not work. Go to Preferences -> General -> Video and enable the software equalizer.

rvm,

I appreciate your response.
In fact I have several other media players that do allow adjustment of the video parameters during playback.
I am referring here specifically to saturation, hue, lightness & gamma settings.
What I am reporting is that the SM Player video equaliser does not work when enabled.
It's also confusing presenting a reset & save function.
Do yopu reset then adjust or,
Ajjust then save (or reset).
You'd think it was obvious but when there is no response ......................

It's very strange that even the software equalizer didn't work for you.

The reset button just moves the sliders to the default values. The "set as default" button saves the current values to be used with other videos.

Actually there's two different controls to get the equaliser options to come up: first you have to go to Options/Preferences/Video, tick the eqaliser box and click apply, then go to Video at the left above the actual screen and open up the second 'equaliser' (why you may ask) and hey presto the various controls show up.
