You can disable the notification of new versions in preferences -> updates (although you need one of the development versions because this option was added recently).

1) redxii builds and uploads the 64 bit packages, I'm sure he will upload the new one whenever he can. There aren't either packages for linux. Things are done when we have time.

2) there's available which includes the option to disable the update checks.

Anyway there won't be so many notifications about updates in the future because I'm working in a better solution for the youtube problem.
