According to the mplayer manual, the option stereo=3 is supported only by few cards.

Posted: Tue Aug 06, 2013 10:51 amIf you want to play a 3D movie in a 2D screen, you can do it by setting gl:stereo=3 as output driver, and then changing the aspect ratio of the movie to 16:9.
