Try to open mplayer.exe directly and see if it produces an error. It doesn't appear as if mplayer can execute at all, it worked fine in XP for me.

mplayer showed an error - Unable To Locate Component (OPENGL32.DLL and GLU32.dll ). now after downloading these two files smplayer seems to be working normally...

Those files are Windows system files, they shouldn't have been missing. The only reason I can think that they are is that the OS was altered to remove supposedly unneeded Windows features (such as "nLite").
