Pixillation using AVI file; improve rendering?

Hello -- first time user/visitor. I am a "basic" user (nothing fancy) looking to provide high-quality slideshow presentation. XP operating system. Presentation of my AVI file showed considerable pixillation in photos I know are of high quality as seen on other viewers. Is this a rendering issue? Any way to improve/enhance? Please advise.
