SMPlayer Support Forum

I have had no luck finding any subtitles with the SMPlayer subtitle search even though manually searching on the opensubtitles.org website using a web browser finds some for a given file. Is there something that needs to be configured in my PC firewall (Norton Security Suite) or on my openwrt firewall/router in order for SMPlayer's subtitle download service to function?

Please, do the following:

Open a movie
Select Subtitles -> Find subtitles on opensubtitles.org
Go to Options -> View logs -> SMPlayer
Copy the whole log and paste it here.

Note that manual searches on the opensubtitles.org website did not work until the filename was stripped down from "D:/Users/Videos/The_Ipcress_File_@_Untitled.mpg" to "The_Ipcress_File". That yields ~40 subtitle files to choose from. I then tried trimming the search string in the SMPlayer 'Find Subtitles' dialog down to "The_Ipcress_File" (without the quotes!) and hitting the Refresh button. I'm stumped. I don't have enough knowledge about the program or how to interpret the log to

SMPlayer doesn't use the name of the file to search for subtitles, it uses a hash calculated from the file. So it might be that there are no subtitles for that particular file, although there could be subtitles for other versions of the movie.
According to the log, opensubtitles says there are no subtitles for your file. However a problem that I'm facing is that sometimes opensubtitles returns 0 results when there are actually some subtitles.

Could you test the latest development version?

Every movie i tried, but only one, SMPlayer doesn't find any subtitles while on opensubtitles.org Webpage are many of them. Language was set to "all". This Feature never worked for me, the only one time it founds a subtitle to only one movie i didn't Need this st but i testet it and then it found -.-
