Energy saving is active in Full screen

Postby Karl Hyne » Wed Apr 30, 2014 7:44 am

Hi,

I am new to the sm player and rely happy with it. But I have one problem. If I am looking a film in full screen the energy saving of windows ( 8.1) are still active. That means after 5 minutes the picture become darker and one minute after this the monitor is becoming black. Now I have to move the mouse every 5 minutes to become the picture brighter

I could change it in my OS energy saving options but it would be bothering to change the settings before and after a film. The thing is any other media player has not this problem.

What can I do?
Win 8.1 (64 bit)
Laptop: Core2Duo T 5870

P.S. Very hard "anti spam bot" question. "Official language of Ukraine". Because of the daily politically issues the Ukraine is every day in media but i really thought they would speak Russian there. I had to use google I learned that the language Ukrainian is existing.

Hello,

and thanks for the fast answer.

Now I am using SMplayer 14.3.0.6217 (32-bit).

This version preventing my monitor turning off but it is not preventing my monitor becomes darker.

Maybe the Output drivers is interesting? I had big problem with directx(fast). Cant go from full screen to an other application. Could not jump forward or backward. The picture stops.
directx(slow) has a (relative) high CPU usage.
So I tried direct3D. No problems (without this topic). And a great CPU usage. Even compared to other mediaplayers.

There are two options for the screensaver in preferences. Be sure you have both enabled. The first one should avoid the monitor to become darker.

Thanks that was the right advice.

I read over it a few times but never associated "screensaver" with my problem.

Now it is working.

Thanks a lot.
