Dodgy download? SMPlayer_Download_Manager.exe

Hi,
I decided to download SMPlayer, so I went to http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/ and clicked the big blue "Download SMPlayer for free" button. The downloaded file is called "SMPlayer_Download_Manager.exe". When I ran this, it presented the GPL and then downloaded 15MB of unknown stuff which it said was installed successfully. Strange that it never asked me where to install SMPlayer or anything else; and also strange that it didn't appear to actually install anything.
Is this a known file? Or have I picked up some malware somehow?
The file is 685,184 bytes and is signed by "STMSetup". I've found some information about it at http://www.herdprotect.com/smplayer_dow ... 4ee66.aspx which doesn't say it's actually malicious but it certainly doesn't look kosher.
Another peculiar thing is that I've tried re-downloading SMPlayer from the same big blue button, and got a completely different result - a redirect to http://www.fosshub.com/SMPlayer.html/sm ... -win32.exe
I'd appreciate any information at all about what I'm seeing here, as I find it very mysterious.
Cheers,
Rob.
