Can't even install SMPlayer

Hey after having some difficulties with VLC I tried to see if there were any alternatives and came across people suggesting SMPlayer. So I grabbed the installer and I cannot get it to install. Every time I go through the setup I get an error "Please connect to the internet and press "Ok" to continue"

I obviously am currently using the internet so this isn't the case. I have antivirus off, and peerblock off so nothing (hypothetically) should be blocking the installer from accessing the internet.

Any solutions? Should I upload PC stats?
