Crash when trying to play .Mp4 files

Hi,

I've been trying to fix this by myself for the past week but I'm losing patience and counting on the community to help me out. I know this is not SMPlayer specific, it is Mplayer related, but I thought you guys here could maybe help me out.

I don't know what I've done, but for the past week, Mplayer or any frontend (I use SmPlayer) will crash when attempting to play any mp4 file, no matter the source. The error is as follows: "MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: demux_open
ID_SIGNAL=11
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM." (Full log below).

I cannot pinpoint any recent operation/update that may have triggered this problem.

Using Mint 17 Qiana Cinnamon x64 on a Corei5 with AMD Radeon HD 7770 Series Graphics Card.

Here is the error log:

- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
disassembly. Details in DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports_what.html#bugreports_crash.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.
[ This binary of MPlayer in Debian is currently compiled with
'--enable-debug'; the debugging symbols are in the package
'mplayer-dbg'.]


I've looked everywhere for help, but the only answers date back to 2010. I've tried removing mplayer, smplayer, codecs, etc, and reinstalling, to no avail. I'll gladly take on any help that comes. Thanks in advance!
