hello friends

when I want to play a youtube video goes as follows:

"Requested the video you needs to open a https connection. unfortunately the openssl component, required for it, it's not available in your system".

Can anyone help me on this?

thank you very much for the help

This happens if the openssl libraries are not available for SMPlayer. Some of the development packages didn't include those libraries but the newer ones do, so if you install the latest version it should work.

I have a June 2015 smplayer and smtube, installed in MicroXP on a 2002 laptop (AMD 180+).
I copied over the two dll's from openssl zip package to the smplayer directory, where they replaced two 2014 somewhat smaller dlls. Same error. I copied cacert.pem - no help.

what else might microXP (a 2008 very small XP equivalent) be missing? It is a 200MB installation and i had to download the sound driver separately. it does not support wifi. I would use linux but nobody can get the sound or 1024x768 working in linux (or pcmcia or ps/2 mouse - and the trackpad is dead).

I got it working on several Pentium IIIs by using an older version or adding libraries as advised at the forum.

Should I try an older smplayer?

I am setting up old laptops for young kids to watch youtube.

version 6994 has the same problem as a later version, though it works on Pentium IIIs.

same problem on a DELL Dimension 4600 from 2003, with XP Home. Same versions of SMplayer and SMTube that worked on several P-3 laptops (I think with MicroXP).

Both computers are fast enough to play Youtube in a browser (Opera) but what is the missing component?

"Unfortunately the SSL component is not available in your system".

XP arrived with SP2 and I added SP3 but no further upgrades. Everything else so far works. MicroXP says not to upgrade, which will break it, but perhaps just one or two upgrades would fix both systems. Can I still upgrade XP?

Modifying or using modified/cut down versions of operating systems are problematic there could be something missing that the OpenSSL dll needs (I don't know what) and it can't load. I tried an unmodified XP SP3 and it works just fine.

There's a program called Dependency Walker http://www.dependencywalker.com/ , load either of the ssl dlls and it might help figure out what system file you might be missing.
