IMM5 Codec AVI file not playing with SM Player

Hoping someone can shed some light on the following issue I have with a IMM5 security footage (23 secs) I would like to view and also be able to convert to play on any computer. I apologies now for my limited knowledge on this.
I have tried a few versions of the SM Player and all I have been able to see is one quick white flash on the screen. Currently using SM Player Version: 14.9.0 (svn r6699) (64-bit) /
Using Qt 4.8.6 (compiled with Qt 4.8.6) / Using MPlayer SVN r37343 on Windows 7 64 bit.
VLC Player (which doesn't have the IMM5 Codec) indicated the index file was missing - wondering if this is really the issue? I have done a fresh install of SM Player and the latest log file is:
Requested video codec family [imm5] (vfm=vfw) not available.
Enable it at compilation.
Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x354D4D49.
Prior to this today I was receiving this error with portable versions of SM Player but these may have been 32 bit?:
ID_VIDEO_CODEC=imm5
Audio: no sound
Starting playback...
MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: decode_video
ID_SIGNAL=11
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
disassembly.
I have tried changing the video output drivers and adding/removing options for the MPlayer/MPV in preferences but am not really sure on what I am doing.
Would appreciated some help.
Many thanks
