customise screen capture file names

As a Windows refugee, gradually getting more and more accustomed to Linux (my distro is Manjaro), one of the adjustments that is proving a bit frustrating is the inability to have screen capture file names reflect the original video they were taken from. With more than a few screen captures and video files file names start to matter. VLC says that it has this ability (it did in Windows) but I've been unable to get it to work. I was unable to find the thread on this topic that I had previously dug up; I know that I'm not the only one with this issue. Has this been solved?

You can customize the screenshots filenames if you use smplayer with mpv. There's an option in preferences -> general to set the template for the screenshots names.

hmm... I installed mpv from the AUR but I couldn't get SMPlayer to run when I entered 'mpv' into preferences. Thanks for the hints.

You need a very recent version of SMPlayer and mpv (at least 0.6.2).
