smplayer uses "--playlist" to open streams, braking playback

It seems smplayer passes the --playlist option to mpv when opening a stream. This breaks many streams (for example chunked HLS streams).
Streams are not playlists. This can't work.

Can you provide a sample URL that fails with --playlist?

For me it would have been easier not to add the --playlist option but in my tests it seemed to be required to play some URLs (but maybe it was because I was using mpv 0.6.2). Anyway I'm going to remove it. If someone finds a URL that doesn't play without --playlist please let me know.

Option removed in svn r6736.

I'll let you know if weirdness ensures because of that. I removed that option myself two days ago already though, and I didn't come across anything that doesn't work yet.
But even if there's URLs that wouldn't work, imo that option should still not be used due to the security problem.

I'm using version 14.9.0.6994 and I am experiencing the same problem with another stream. Moreover, it seems that smplayer has included once again the --playlist to open the stream with mplayer and therefore mplayer just plays the stream for 9 seconds, then it freezes, then it is executed once again for another extra 9 seconds, and this is made 4 times since the stream is not played anymore.
Greetings.
