SMPlayer Support Forum

I was used to watch videos in smplayer (on MS Windows) without
smplayer popping out another window in which the video plays.

Now on my linux, I built smplayer from latest svn (as of today) and
it built without any issues, and I installed it

However, when I play videos, it pops another window to play them in.
I thought video should play in smplayer's own main window.

What do I need to do to make that the default behaviour?
I do not like the popped up video window.

Do you have the option "run mplayer in its own window" (preferences -> advanced) enabled?

It is very easy
Just open preferences (Ctrl+P)
Go to Interface Tab
Then go to Instances
You will see an option named "Use only one running instance of SMPlayer"
Just Uncheck/Untick the box.
All set. It is done.
You can play different videos on different windows.
