Australian CloseCaptions

Postby needsubs » Tue Jun 23, 2015 1:16 am

Hi from Australia
First time for me on this forum and wondering if Someone could help
I am trying SM Player for the first time and have found it does not replay Closed Captions (Subtitles) on television programs I have recorded here in Australia.
I have been using VLC player which plays all the closed captions and subtitles from everything I record from anywhere
But there is one very annoying problem with VLC and that is the closed captions do not hide soon enough after they are displayed on screen.
If a line of dialogue is displayed and no more dialogue is spoken for several minutes the subtitles will remain displayed on screen till more dialogue is spoken.
Only way to make them go away is to toggle subs off and on again (v key in VLC)
Hence I am looking for another player that may do a better job with these sub titles
SM player looks very nice and would suit me fine if it would replay the closed captions
Is it possible now or in the future for SM player to do this.
I tested a clip last night and VLC plays the closed captions but SM will not, in fact in the file info on SM it does not even show any subs present.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated
Thanks

Could you provide a small sample video with Australian captions?

Hi rvm
Yes i can provide a clip
here is the link to dropbox
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rvnstnk1fcmrd ... im.ts?dl=0
The clip was recorded on a Teac set top box
I have trimmed it using Videoredo
The captions replay using VLC player but the problem of displaying too long is still happening.
Thanks
