My SMPlayer no longer plays m3u files

Postby haku100 » Sat Jun 27, 2015 9:53 am

Hi,

All of a sudden, and for no apparent reason, SMPlayer installed on my Netbook -which is still running on Win XP SP3 - refuses to play m3u audio files (all other file types, audio or video, work perfectly well).

When I open (double click or drag) an m3u file in SMPlayer, there is some activity ("Buffering") - then... nothing. When then exiting the program, an "Oops, something wrong happened" crash error message is generated + a log file.

In Options/Preferences/File types, the m3u type appears unchecked and when I check it, then "apply" or "OK" the page, m3u and, for that matter, m3u8 file types uncheck themselves on their own. As far as I know, my codecs have not changed. Until last week everything worked fine. What shall I do to correct this?

Thanks for helping me out on this.

That's strange, I've just tested both streams in linux and they play ok, with both mplayer and mpv.

Could you test if they work for you with mpv?

Edit: I've just tested in windows vista, with MPlayer Redxii-SVN-r37343 and both streams plays ok too, although mplayer crashes at the end. It works better with mpv.
