Youtube in broswer won't play with SMplayer open

I love this player and just installed it in Ubuntu Mate 15.10 and now when I have smplayer open and watching a video I can't play any youtube videos in either Chrome or Firefox. As soon as I close out SMplayer the vids on the browsers immediately start to play lol Any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

That's very strange since smplayer doesn't change or install anything in the web browsers.

Do any error messages appear when starting the browser from a terminal and you recreate the problem?
Is this with HTML5 or Flash in Youtube?
