Subtitle font setting on windows 7

Windows 7
SMPlayer 15.9.0 x64
My problem is: I can't change the font of the subtitles. I tried other films (even without subtitle and I loaded an srt file to it), still the same: I can't change the font.
I've liked (s)mplayer since I could set the subtitles below the movie in the black area (with: -idx -vf expand=-0:-120:0:00). And I was never happier a x64 version came out.
With the earlier versions I could set the subtitle into the black area, and I could set the font. I always had to turn off the ASS settings, because the subtitles stayed in the black area, and the next line showed on the previous one and as the lines were cumulating it became hard to read (even with a black border). It would be nice to have a color or something, but since it was on an always black background, I was concent with it.
But since the newer versions (I think it begun with 15.x) I can't set the font. I enabled the windows font, I disabled the windows font and I tried to copy the ttf file onto the folder where the smplayer takes the font files, and it became choosable from the list, but even if I set a font the smplayer doesn't care, it uses only one font, and that's all. I don't know what should I set.
If I enable the ASS library, the font set is okay, but since I would like to watch the subtitle below the movie, I get the subtitle lines cumulating as I wrote it above.
Is there any way to set this?
