After reading of someine else's switch from Kaffeine to smplayer in order to watch/record digital TV, I installed smplayer. However, I could not see anywhere amongst the menus any way of pointing to my tuner or its firmware nor scanning for stations etc. It looks as though something else is needed that was missed during the installation.
I installed from the Mandriva 2010 repository. Two files named in the repository were installed: "smplayer" and "smplayer-themes". What else do I need?

Currently smplayer doesn't provide any option to scan for channels or something like that.
You have to use another tool to create the file ~/.mplayer/channels.conf. More info in .
