A question about the extra options for MPlayer/mpv:

If I choose to use the "-volume" option with a parameter of, say, 20, that works when a video starts. But if I then move the volume slider at the bottom right of the video window even slightly, that seems to cancel the extra option choice immediately and the volume of the video suddenly increases a lot. This is sometimes a shock because the increase in volume can be quite dramatic. Any remedy for this?

This happens because smplayer doesn't analyze the options you pass to mplayer, so it doesn't know that you're setting a different value for the volume.

Hi newuser101,

In the file smplayer.ini you can set "initial_volume=" to whatever level you want and Smplayer will start with this value so changing the volume later will start at the volume you set and not jump to a larger level.
