Random ffodivx crashes MPlayer r32848

Postby redxii » Tue Feb 22, 2011 2:30 am

Probably stems from this: http://gitorious.org/~astrange/ffmpeg/f ... 5d154281ff

It is random, each different video has its own problem with threads and framedrop. For instance, one video doesn't like 2 or 3 threads with frame drop, and 4 threads won't play at all. Another would work with 4 threads. These are supposed to be videos encoded by the same person. Sometimes if I am persistent, the video will play.

I tried running MPlayer from the command line and it doesn't crash with any combination of -lavdopts threads= or -framedrop. Has something to do with all the other stuff being passed to MPlayer thru SMPlayer I suppose. Not sure what yet.

New MPlayer builds have been released with the same problem. Anyone want to help?

http://red.caek.org/Controlep01_704x396_XviD.avi
http://sourceforge.net/projects/smplaye ... e/download OR http://sourceforge.net/projects/smplaye ... z/download OR the 0.6.9 release
http://sourceforge.net/projects/smplaye ... z/download

Be sure to set in the Prefs to use the new MPlayer exe and set the threads to 2 or 4 or however many your CPU is capable of. Sometimes the file will play sometimes it won't.

The problem was with "Draw video using slices". Anyone using the latest installer/MPlayer and using multiple threads to decode and have problems with AVI/MPEG-4 should disabled that option in "General (Video)".
