Play position overlay when changing position (videos only)

16.7.0 displays a progress bar denoting the current play position (overlaid/centered over the video) when one changes play positions in a video (via click or skip).
Very annoying !
It does not happen with audio files (only videos).
This is a fairy recent change, as it does *not* happen with 16.1.0.
Sorry I can't manage to get a screen shot.
How can i disable this ?
Or perhaps this is an MPlayer issue ?
